The Fertile Forest: A Unique Interior Design of Residence

Creating Artistic Space and Appealing to Hotel Management

On the basis of simple style, the residence known as The Fertile Forest, designed by Ko-Tien Huang, aims to create an artistic space that appeals to hotel management. Inspired by the idea of a "forest," the designer has created a different space experience from the outside world by utilizing skills of emptiness, rendering, and plane configuration.

By applying ingenious skills of hide and implication, The Fertile Forest unveils the possibilities in each space. Through the interplay of light and shadow, the design creates a multi-element outlook that sparks imagination and offers a powerful foundation for different clients. The clear aspect of the design brings a vague sensation in its straightforwardness, generating fascinating space variations and abundant sensations.

The former configuration of the residence consisted of two bedrooms, one kitchen, one living room, and one dining room. However, the redesigned space now features one bedroom, one kitchen, one living room, and one dining room. The absence of one bedroom allows for a larger living room and kitchen, which serve as comfortable and open mediums. The wide dining room is ingeniously designed to be a private area separate from the living room, a public area, by utilizing ceiling decorations that figuratively make the dining room appear slightly smaller.

The Fertile Forest spans 144 square meters and is located in Taichung City, Taiwan. The project began in December 2014 and was completed in September 2015. The design challenges the traditional concept of straight lines, bringing new life and unity to the space. It incorporates elements of nature into a composed atmosphere, creating a unique and unconventional sensation.

The Fertile Forest was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
